Just wanted to ask for everyones opinion on my website. Check it out sometime. Just something I started doing in my spare time and slowly adding stuff to it. The website is

Hello and welcome!! OK I kow where Toronto is, and it is lovely!! I hail from Colorado.
The first thing I notice is in "Please bare with me" in you first paragraph should be spelled bear... one of those silly things that only people like me notice.
I really like you premise! I'm 29 yars old (been bartending 9yrs.) and have a degree in business management, so the school thing doesn't pertain, but I am saving to buy a cabin cruser boat (very used) and a home (that will have to be used too!). I feel the same way a lot.
It is a fun site, and a great place to get your venting out. I know a lot of the time servers feel like the lowest form of life on earth.
I left a message, but I would like to add something, perhaps you can put it in somewhere...
People who are in the profession of "Serving" sometimes choose to go into it because they love it. Others have to do it bacause they are students, single parents or have other carreers and they need the suplemental income to get by. Trust me, the person who voulintarily gets shat upon every day is hard to come by. Tip your server damit, God is watching yo ass.
Best of luck Stephen, Slap on a smile, ask "what may I get for you" and invest your money wisely. _________________ The odds are good but the goods are odd.

wow
What do I think?..........
I think its people like you that sometimes make me feel embarrased and ashamed to be a Bartender!
......WHICH I AM NOT
Iv'e been in the service industry for well over the last 12 years. So I know as well as anyone where my mortgage, car payment food and bills comes from....Tips...I have served ice cream, bussed tables in restaurants/bars,been a waiter in restaurants/bars....and for the longest time a bartender in pubs and busy nightclubs. So I have been the benificiary of all levels of tips, from tip out to directly from the customer...from less than a penny to hundreds.
I've heard all the excuses and complaints about why you didnt get a "good enough" tip....
...thats the easy way out...
some times you make good money sometimes you dont, thats just a fact of serving life
Instead of finding a way to make excuses for the customer why not try the hard approach and look at yourself?
Not so easy is it....your the allmighty server
Istead of thinking of tips as an expectation think of them as erned and a privlage.
Next time you get a tip less that you "expected" take some time and really think how you could have given BETTER SERVICE.
If you want a better than average tip you better give better than average service...think about it.
besides, what ever you walk with is more than you came in the doors with..so appreciate what you have not what you think you should have!
Example....CAN I get you change...( dont ask for a tip) ...try...I will be right back with your change....a little different eh?
saying hi and being polite is not extraordinary service...stand out...make them WANT to tip you more!
just my opinion....
but then again Im not just a bartender Im also a customer........

Thanx for the reply. But, I have also been in the industry for a while and I am not making the point that people have to tip. If the service is bad then the bartender or server or whoever it is should realize this and not expect a tip at all. Being a good bartender, you know when you have not been able to take care of a customer properly. I am making the point that those you do take care of, the ones that you bend over backwards for, should tip accordingly. If they expect the service they should show that they appreciate it. I am friendly to each customer, and don't expect a tip but I also take care of those that take care of me. That's all I have to say. Thanx.
Bye

Look, let's face it, there are some really cheap people out there at times. You give good service , they are happy about everything and then they don't leave a tip or a real shitty tip. It's not because they couldn't afford to tip, they are just cheap. I make decent money and I really don't let a bad tip get to me . I understand some people are giving the best they can afford and I truly understand that. It's the ones who can afford to tip accordingly and don't that should be taken and buried out in the back yard LOL!!!! _________________ Calgon , make them go away!!!!!
