Looking for a drink that will keep me and my honey warm on a cold winter evening.
We don't drink that often, but something spicey would do.
What's in a Hot Tottie?
Or maybe something with cream?
Anyone suggest.. |

Great question....
Some suggestions: glog ( glug) a scandinavian
spiced hot drink; wassail- a traditional Christmas drink or punch; coffee with frangelico
(a hazelnut liquor) or with B & B (brandy & benedictine) or with Bailey's Irish Cream or any liquor...
try our mixed drink & shooter recipes section
(button on your left) and look up drinks by ingredients you like or have on hand. Or type in hot tottie and see how many recipes you find.

My favorite is a BFK. Equal parts Bailey's, Frangelico and Kahlua. Fill with hot coffee and garnish with whip cream. If you want to avoid coffee here are a few more...
Blueberry Tea- 3/4 oz amaretto, 3/4 oz grand marnier, fillwith hot water and use a grey tea bag. Garnish with cinnaman.
Hot Apple Pie- 1 1/2 oz of Tuaca, fill with hot cider.
Snuggler- 1 1/2 oz peppermint schnapps, fill with hot chocolate and garnish with whip cream. |

Here is a recipie for the elusive hot toddie:
Hot Toddy
Ingredients:
1 tblsp Honey
3/4 glass Tea
2 shots Brandy
1 slice Lemon
Mixing instructions:
Brew tea and fill tall glass 3/4 full. Mix in honey. Mix in Brandy shots. Add lemon slice and enjoy.
I generaly use a little more honey than called for, the juice of 1/4 lemon instead of just a slice and add a dash of nutmeg for a nice flavor with the brandy. Happy Holidays!!!

The Hot Toddy originally is made of [color=yellow:05dc932040][b:05dc932040]bourbon[/b:05dc932040] or [b:05dc932040]rye[/b:05dc932040], [b:05dc932040]water[/color:05dc932040][/b:05dc932040], lemon, sugar "simple" syrup/honey (personal preference) and occasionally with the addition of a clove or some other preferred spice. This has shifted acceptably to both Whiskey and Whisky as a fair substitute.

equal parts, layered (in this order)
considered a "pousse cafe"
Kahlua
Bailey's Irish Cream
Frangelico

Beans,
you are correct in the cut and paste, and in the correction that toddies generaly use rye, burbon or whisky and water, but I have found the one from the webtender a little more pleasing for my palate and a little more exciting than the other.
Sorry for the mix up.

| Beans- Thanks for the history lesson old timer! I didn't know the B-51 and the BFK were basically one in the same. The only difference in the recipe that I learned is that a BFK is usually served as a coffee drink. I have also served it shaken and strained a few times. Anyways, I now have yet another way to serve up a yummy drink. I went to the link you provided and was wondering what is in an Arctic Warmer? The site is under contsruction and I wasn't able to access the recipe. Being an Alaskan, it has roused my curiosity and I would like to add it to my list of Alaskan drinks. thanx-T |
