Vicki,
Pina colada mix you buy in the store is crap, resist the temptation to go the "easy" route and make it yourself, all it is is pinapple juice and Creme de Cocao, a thick, sweet coconut paste.
I generaly use 1 1/2 Tbsp. of coconut to ever 4 or five onces of pinapple.... hope this helps...

| when i make a Pina colada i use pinapple chunks malibu (coconut rum), and coconut milk, all blended with ice. i never new that creme de cacao came anywhere near it, but i guess its just different strokes for different folks... i find that using pinaple chunks adds a new texture which personnaly i like. |

Bill, I was refering to the mix that is commonly found in the grocery, without alcohol. Many people use this mix in stead of hastling with a whole pinapple or cans of it. Your way of making it is the traditional way, but so few Pina Coladas get ordered in the places I have worked it is not cost effective to use pinapple chunks, thus resorting to juice! _________________ The odds are good but the goods are odd. |

oh ok. but just to clear the air, i wasnt getting at you anyway, it was a simple missunderstanding. sorry dude... if i were to make it in a bar without pinapple chunks i would use the juice too, also we never hold coconut milk where i work, so i use half n half and just use the coconut rum for the nuttyness... not that i have to make em often, but if some1 asks me i can do it that way |
