I was wondering what kind of pourers everyone prefers. The bar I work in uses the short chrome plated speed pourers. I had the priveledge of going to the Bar & Nightclub show in Vegas this year and was blown away by some of the stuff that I saw there. I was wondering what kind of poures most of the pros use, for example I went to a party hosted by Bacardi and the bartenders they had were able to flip bottles that were at least a third full with no visible spillage. I believe that my technique is sound but, I can't flip a bottle once, let alone twice with anywhere near that much product in it without having some come out, so I was wondering if the vertical speed pourers would maybe be better, considering the air would possibly get trapped? thanks for any input
Most flair bartenders use free pourers either short and plastic or chrome 285 pourers as they've got be able to pour accurately when they need to.
I wasn't at the Bacardi party - I believe that was the one in the Bellagio but I can't imagine them to be any different to these. Are you sure they weren't doing full bottle moves like flairers do when the bottle doesn't leave your hand but you swing it around?

Just as a side note, the Bacardi party was staffed by some of the best flair bartenders in the Vegas and likely the world. They were likely using the Spill Stop 285-50 metal spouts that Darren mentioned, they are pretty much standard at that level.
I would hazard a guess that the moves you watched with 1/3 full bottles were flying through the air, but not actually spinning so much. This is known as working flair, and it is a real pleasure to watch in action (so long as it doesn't leave you waiting on a drink!).
actually the party was at the Las Vegas sports center, and they did a nice job of balancing serving and show, they did have quite a lot of flipping, but they were doing a lot of swinging too, all in all it was great to watch, and obviously gives me something to work towards. I just don't plan on getting there in the next month or two! haha thanks for the responses though, its very much appreciated
