where can I find flair?
Are there alot of bars that want their bartenders to flair? What kind of bars do this? Like nightclubs or what?
Is flair well excepted in the larger bars where only experienced bartenders work?
I live near Houston, Does anyone know of a place I can go to see some flair in action?
thanks |

Unfortunately I don't know of any bars near you to recommend, but I would suggest looking at the videos on this site and flairdevils to get tasters of flair. Also try and buy some competition dvd/vids. I recommend Legends and Roadhouse competitions. |

Yeah Ive got a few videos. One is ken hall learn to flair and the jugglers edition.
Ive been practicing for 9 months. I can juggle 4 bottles now (just to brag)
I read in another post that you want to flair. In my limited experience with it, it seems that I could never learn the moves from a video as fast as I learn them through experimentation.
Get a few vidoes and play around with some practice bottles.
I put a little water in them and put a piece of plastic bag over the mouth and then push the pourer on. You will learn what a spill feels like without actually spilling.
When I first started before I discovered this teqnique I spent more time moping my floor than I did flairing.
I really want to see working flair live. Ive read in a few posts that TGI is a good place. I wonder if they would hire me. Hmmm Im gonna have to call around. |

cool tip on the bag
The DVD's you mention are cool but they don't come anywhere near the new levels of competition flair out there. Maybe there is a comp near houston - I will ask some people I know for you.

I have no suggestions other than in LA or Las Vegas. Trial and Error my friend is the key, and where many of the top Flair's got their moves. My suggestion is to find a few bottles and on a sunny day get a few friends and go in the back yard and try to do a few things. I'm not up to four bottles but I can get two and do some things I never thought possible until I tried. In fact my dream is to someday own a bar and hire people who either know or would like to learn Flair and have the kickest ass club in town. Bars around here in Louisiana or to small and owners don't trust their tenders to throw their bottles. Hopefully some day I'll be able to see some moves. Keep flipping till then.
