There are several reasons. One is breakage if the bottle drops. Another is the visual appeal. In our DVDs we suggest beginner students use cleaned out glass bottles filled with juices and mixes. Using electrical tape helps to distinguish one bottle from another and allows the crowd to see something more flashy than a clear glass bottle.
Same applies to shaker tins. _________________ Extreme Bartending

| As a traveling flair bartender I did fire shows at establishments also so that entails using an empty bottle and if I didn't bring my flair bottles I would tape up some glass ones for weight as well as balance and the obvious reason which is breakage. |
